Day 2 - The Rhino Sanctuary
Transfer & Activity: Immersive Day at Imire Game Park
We depart the capital for Imire Game Park, a large conservancy and a global leader in intensive black and white rhino conservation. Your day begins with steaming teas and coffees upon arrival, followed by a morning game drive through the diverse Brachystegia woodlands. Imire offers a unique hands-on perspective of conservation; you will track the resident rhinos alongside expert handlers who have dedicated their lives to protecting these prehistoric giants. Following a premier buffet lunch served in the lush gardens, we head out for an afternoon game drive to spot herds of buffalo, giraffe, and the rare sable antelope. The day concludes with a high-definition wildlife encounter: the rhino feeding session. Depending on the animals’ temperament, you may have the opportunity to stand mere metres away from these magnificent creatures during their sundowner snack, a visceral, humbling experience that highlights the delicate balance of the African wild. You will then overnight at Imire Lodge.Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3 - The Ascent to the Nyanga National Park
We begin our ascent into the Eastern Highlands, moving from the central plateau into the rugged Nyanga National Park. Our first stop is the rhythmic Nyangombe Falls, where the river cascades over tiered granite platforms into a lush, fern-fringed valley. This is a masterclass in highland hydrology, offering a stark contrast to the sheer drops found elsewhere in the country. We then ascend to World’s View, a spectacular escarpment on the edge of the Nyanga plateau. From this vantage point, the earth seems to fall away, revealing a 180-degree panorama of the northern Zimbabwean lowveld and the shimmering Mazowe Valley below. We conclude the day at the historic Troutbeck Resort. Nestled at 2,000 metres above sea level, the resort’s perpetual fire in the lobby, unextinguished since 1951, provides a warm, colonial-era sanctuary amidst the cool mountain mists.
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day 4 - The Roof of Zimbabwe & The Highland Canter
We rise at first light for a technical ascent of Mount Nyangani, the highest peak in Zimbabwe at 2,592 metres. This hike is an immersive study in afro-alpine ecology; you will traverse unique moorlands home to endemic flora, mountain orchids, and crystal-clear streams. Reaching the summit provides an unparalleled sense of scale, with views stretching across the Honde Valley and
deep into the Mozambican plains. After a revitalising lunch back at the resort, the afternoon is dedicated to a highland horseback safari. This silent, rhythmic mode of transport is the most authentic way to navigate the rolling grasslands and pine forests of the Troutbeck estate. Riding allows you to glide past shy bushbuck and duiker, who view the horses as fellow herbivores, providing an intimate, ground-level connection to the mountain’s residents.Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5: The Vertical Abyss & The Bvumba Mist
Mtarazi Falls & To the “Castle in the Air” (Leopard Rock)
Our journey continues south to the breath-taking Mtarazi Falls, Zimbabwe’s highest waterfall. Here, the Mtarazi River plunges a staggering 762 metres into the Honde Valley in a sheer, vertical ribbon of white. For those with a head for heights, the Skywalk and Skyline provide a visceral, high-altitude
perspective of the gorge’s tectonic fractures. Following this high-intensity encounter, we transit to the Bvumba Mountains, the ‘Mountains of the Mist.’ We check into the legendary Leopard Rock Hotel, often referred to as a Castle in the Air. Set within a lush, tropical montane forest that borders a private conservancy, the hotel overlooks a dramatic valley. The Bvumba microclimate, with its swirling mists and ancient tree ferns, offers a sensory experience unlike any other region in Southern Africa.Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day 6: Forest Whispers & The Lake Mutirikwi Transition
Montane Forest with Game Walk & Masvingo Transition
We begin the morning with a guided forest or game walk through the Bvumba’s unique botanical tapestry. This is a masterclass in montane biodiversity; your guide will help you spot the rare Samango monkey and the vibrant Swynnerton’s Robin, both endemic to these mist-shrouded heights. The walk reveals the delicate mosses, epiphytic orchids, and ancient hardwood trees that thrive in this cloud forest environment. We then descend from the highlands and head south-west toward Masvingo, checking into the Ancient City Lodge. Architecturally inspired by the dry-stone masonry of the Great Zimbabwe ruins, the lodge is built into the granite koppies. In the late afternoon, you may opt for a speed boat tour on Lake Mutirikwi. Navigating the deep waters of Zimbabwe’s second-largest inland lake offers a serene perspective of the rugged shoreline and the water-dwelling wildlife that inhabits the lake’s fringes.Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day 7: The Granite Kingdom & Mutirikwi Wild
Great Zimbabwe National Monument & Mutirikwi Game
Today is a profound technical study of the Great Zimbabwe National Monument, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the largest stone structure in sub-Saharan Africa. Your expert guide will lead you through the Hill Complex, the Great Enclosure with its iconic Conical Tower, and the Valley Ruins.
You will learn about the sophisticated 11th-century civilisation that built these dry-stone walls without mortar, and the sociopolitical history of the Shona empire that once ruled from this granite throne. After an authentic Village Lunch Tour, where you will experience traditional Shona hospitality and cuisine, we head into Mutirikwi National Park. This park is a rugged sanctuary for white rhinos, giraffes, and various antelope. The landscape, studded with massive granite boulders (kopjies), provides a dramatic backdrop for an afternoon game drive as we track the park’s residents through the shadows of the ancient ruins.Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This provides a high-impact, close-encounter perspective of Zimbabwe’s apex predators, allowing you to observe the sheer power and social dynamics of a resident lion pride. We then commence the scenic road transfer back toward the capital, traversing the expansive Highveld plains. This journey traces the agricultural heartland of the country, moving through small farming towns and rolling savannahs. Your final night is spent at York Lodge in Harare. This sophisticated boutique property is set within lush, manicured gardens, providing a peaceful, upscale environment to reflect on your journey from the peaks of Nyanga to the stone legacies of the south.Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
