    Your day of discovery begins with a convenient morning pickup from your accommodation by a knowledgeable guide, who will lead you on an in-depth tour of Zimbabwe’s capital. You will start in the historical heart of Harare, gaining insight into the city’s past and present before visiting the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. Here, you’ll see a stunning showcase of both traditional and contemporary local artistry, which tells a story of the country’s heritage and its creative future. The journey then takes you to a vibrant tapestry of local life at Mbare, the city’s largest open-air market. This bustling hub is a feast for the senses, where you can feast your eyes on a colourful array of baskets, food, clothing, and other items, all while interacting directly with the originators of the unique arts and crafts on display. A moment of tranquility awaits at the beautiful Botanical Gardens, where you can admire the diverse flora and the nearby Parliament buildings. The next stop is a place of solemn reflection: the monumental National Heroes Acre. Established in 1980, this sacred ground was built to honor Zimbabweans who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country’s independence, and provides a profound understanding of the nation’s struggle for freedom. In the afternoon, you will be treated to a true taste of local culture at lunch. You will head to KwaMereki, arguably Zimbabwe’s most popular open-air barbecue and leisure spot, for a traditional ‘braai’ (barbecue) in a lively atmosphere, or enjoy a meal at the gava restaurant, immersing yourself in the local food scene. You will conclude this comprehensive tour with a visit to one of Zimbabwe’s most iconic natural wonders: the Chiremba Balanced Rocks or the Epworth Rock Formation. This remarkable geological site offers a peaceful and profound finale to a day filled with history, art, and culture.

Comfortable walking shoes, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, practical clothing and good quality sunscreen are essential.

The US Dollar (USD) is the dominant and most widely accepted currency.

Prices for tourists are usually quoted in USD. Have small denominations ($1s, $5s, $10s) for tips and local markets. The local currency (ZWL) is less useful for tourists. Credit/Debit Cards (Mastercard/Visa) are widely accepted at major hotels and activity operators.

Note: Inform your bank of your travel dates and destinations to avoid card freezes.

Zimbabwean cuisine is hearty, centered on a staple cornmeal porridge, but also features unique regional delicacies:

  • Sadza: The national staple, a thick cooked porridge made from maize meal. It is traditionally eaten with the right hand and rolled into a ball to scoop up relishes.
  • Nyama: Meat relish, often including beef, chicken, or goat, cooked in a stew with tomatoes and onions. Game meat (such as kudu or impala) is also widely available.
  • Muriwo Unedovi: Leafy green vegetables (like collard greens or pumpkin leaves) cooked with peanut butter, which gives them a rich, savory, and unique flavor.
  • Zambezi Bream (or Tilapia): Freshly caught river fish, usually grilled or fried.
