You will be transferred to Ingwe Pan, a camp so beautifully positioned by an infinite waterhole that attracts a stunning array of wildlife. Here, you will check-in, have a glorious lunch, and later, after a rest, go on for an evening game drive. This drive offers your first glimpse into the rich diversity of the park and its inhabitants. • Day 2 - Full Day Experience

Mana Pools Full Day Game Drive

You will be joining your guide in Mana Pools National Park for a full day guided game drive. It’s a fantastic opportunity to see some of the animals you came so far to see. The area covered by game drives depends on the amount of rain that the park has received, with drives in the dry season concentrating on the riverine areas, as water sources dry up elsewhere and animals are attracted to the banks of the Zambezi. Large herds of elephant and buffalo can be seen on the wide floodplains, as can zebra, kudu, eland, impala and many other antelope species. Mana Pools is particularly well known for its large bull elephants and the expert guides leading your game drive will know where to find individual animals. You will head back to the camp for lunch or your guide will treat you to a picnic lunch and later return into the park for an afternoon game drive to look for more wildlife. Several prides of lion have made this their territory and they are regularly spotted. The park is also particularly well known for sightings of the endangered wild dog. Leopard, cheetah and hyena are also occasionally encountered, although they are shy and far less readily spotted. Conclude the day with dinner at camp.

  • Day 3 - Land and Water Explorer

    Canoeing

Step into the wild heart of Mana Pools with an intimate canoeing safari on the Zambezi River. This is more than just an excursion; it’s a chance to become a part of the landscape. As you paddle, you’ll feel the gentle current guide you past towering water reeds and sun-drenched floodplains. The silence of the canoe allows you to get incredibly close to the river’s inhabitants. Witness elephants as they cross the mighty waterway, their trunks raised like periscopes, and glide quietly past a dazzling array of yawning hippos, kingfishers, herons, and African skimmers perched on overhanging branches. The day concludes with light refreshments on the riverbank, a perfect moment to reflect on the unparalleled beauty of this wild and untouched paradise.

    Guided Game Walk

Prepare for a profound afternoon as you embark on a walking safari, a rare privilege in one of Africa’s most exceptional national parks. Unlike conventional game drives, a walk here isn’t just about spotting wildlife—it’s about re-establishing a primal connection with the earth. With every step, you’ll feel the ground beneath your feet and hear the rustle of leaves, experiencing the bush through all your senses. This isn’t just a thrilling encounter with wildlife, but a chance to engage with your surroundings on a visceral level, gaining a deeper understanding of this fragile and beautiful ecosystem. As you walk, keep an eye out for Boswell, the legendary elephant known for his remarkable ability to stand on his hind legs to reach the juiciest pods and leaves high in the trees—a truly unforgettable sight that speaks to the unique harmony between man and animal in this special place. As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, you’ll return to camp, the memories of your footsteps and the wild’s rhythm lingering with you as you unwind before dinner.

As you are driven back to the airstrip, you will have one last opportunity to spot wildlife, a final farewell from the animals who have shared their home with you. You leave Mana Pools not just with incredible photographs, but with a deep sense of connection to the wild, a feeling that will stay with you long after you have left.

Frequently Asked Questions

For travellers from many nationalities (classified as Category B), visas can be conveniently purchased upon arrival at the port of entry, such as the airport or border crossing, though cash in USD is required for payment. Single or double-entry options are available depending on your itinerary.

Certain travellers visiting both Zimbabwe and Zambia qualify for the KAZA Uni-Visa (currently US$50 and available to citizens of over 65 countries), which is highly recommended as it grants access to both nations for up to 30 days with multiple entries, and even permits day trips to Botswana (but not overnight stays);

In contrast, some nationalities (Category C) are required to apply for an eVisa or process their visa through an embassy in advance.

Comfortable, casual, and practical clothing is best.

  • For Safaris/Game Drives: Neutral colours (khaki, brown, olive, grey) are best for blending in. Pack layers, as mornings and evenings can be quite cool, even in summer. A fleece or light jacket is recommended.
  • General: Comfortable walking shoes, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, swimwear, and good quality sunscreen and insect repellent are essential.

The US Dollar (USD) is the dominant and most widely accepted currency.

Prices for tourists are usually quoted in USD. Have small denominations ($1s, $5s, $10s) for tips and local markets. The local currency (ZWL) is less useful for tourists. Credit/Debit Cards (Mastercard/Visa) are widely accepted at major hotels and activity operators.

Note: Inform your bank of your travel dates and destinations to avoid card freezes.

Malaria: The Mana Pools National Park is considered a malaria risk area. Antimalarial tablets are highly recommended. Please consult your doctor or a travel clinic for the most suitable prophylactic (medication) for you.

Yellow Fever: A Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate is only required if you are arriving from, or have transited for more than 12 hours through, a country with a risk of Yellow Fever transmission. Zimbabwe is not on the risk list, so you only need the certificate if you are coming from a listed country.
