Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival & The Teak Forest Transition
Victoria Falls Airport to Gwango Heritage Resort
Upon arrival at Victoria Falls International Airport, you will be met by our representative for a scenic 180km road transfer into the Hwange ecosystem. As you travel south, watch the landscape shift into the ancient Kalahari Sands eco-zone, characterized by towering Teak and False Mopane forests. Your base is the evocative Gwango Heritage Resort, a lodge that seamlessly blends cultural heritage with a deep commitment to wildlife conservation.Sunset Game Drive (Private Estate)
Your first safari experience takes place within a private estate that serves as a critical unfenced corridor for wildlife migrating between the community lands and the National Park. During the late afternoon, we focus on the various waterholes where herds of buffalo and elephant congregate as the heat dissipates. This is an excellent time to spot the shy Sable antelope or the Greater Kudu. We conclude the drive with sundowners in the bush, soaking in the first of many spectacular Zimbabwean sunsets as the nocturnal sounds of the Kalahari begin to rise.Day 2 - Full-Day Immersive Game Drive in Hwange National Park
Today is dedicated to the 14,650 square kilometres of Hwange National Park. Because the park lacks perennial rivers, its lifeblood is the network of pumped waterholes that act as theatres of action.
Our full-day excursion focuses on these hubs, where you can observe complex social hierarchies and predator-prey interactions with local expert precision. Hwange is world-renowned for its Super Herds of elephants and a high density of lions; we will spend time at various hides and platforms, allowing for patient, high-definition wildlife viewing. A delicious picnic lunch is served in a secluded spot or picnic site within the park, keeping you in the heart of the wilderness throughout the day.
You will traverse diverse landscapes, from the expansive Ngamo Plains to the dense teak woodlands, tracking part of the Big Five and the rare African wild dog.Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 3 - Predator Dawn & The Thundering Smoke
Early Morning Game Drive (Hwange National Park)
We rise at first light to catch the Dawn Patrol of an early morning game drive. This is the most electric time in the bush, as apex predators like leopards and lions are often seen finishing their nocturnal hunts or marking territory before the sun forces them into the thickets. The cool morning air also brings out the park's vibrant birdlife, including the Kori Bustard and the Crimson-breasted Shrike.Victoria Falls Rainforest Walk & Evening at Dzimbahwe
Following a late breakfast, you will be transferred to Victoria Falls for a profound change of pace. You will be dropped at the entrance to the Victoria Falls Rainforest for a self-guided walk. Following the winding path, you will experience the sheer geological power of Mosi-oa-Tunya from various viewpoints, including the Devil’s Cataract and the 108-metre plunge of the Main Falls. The constant spray creates a unique microclimate home to lush ferns and vibrant flora. After your walk, a short transfer takes you to the serene Dzimbahwe Guest Lodge, a quiet sanctuary perfect for reflecting on your journey through the Land of the Giants.Meals: Breakfast
Day 4 - Final Farewell
Dzimbahwe Guest Lodge to Victoria Falls Airport
Enjoy a final breakfast in the tranquil gardens of your lodge, perhaps reflecting on the rumble of Hwange’s elephants or the rainbows of the Falls. Our representative will provide a seamless transfer to Victoria Falls International Airport in good time for your onward flight. You depart with a deep connection to the Zimbabwean wild, having traversed the very best of its natural heritage from the arid majesty of the deep bush to the shimmering mists of the world’s most iconic waterfall.Meals: Breakfast
