    Your authentic adventure begins with a scenic drive from Maun to the poling station, the gateway to the Okavango Delta’s intricate, winding waterways. Here, you will be introduced to your professional guide and mokoro poler—a member of the local community whose deep, inherited knowledge of this unique ecosystem is truly unmatched. Step into a traditional dugout canoe, and let your journey begin. As your poler expertly glides the vessel through crystal-clear channels with a long pole, a profound sense of calm will wash over you. The only sounds are the gentle lapping of water against the reeds and the rich chorus of the delta’s abundant birdlife. From this unique, low-to-the-water perspective, you’ll be captivated by the delicate beauty of water lilies and the vibrant colors of tiny reed frogs. Keep your eyes peeled for resident hippos and crocodiles, and you may even spot a majestic elephant, giraffe, or zebra on one of the delta’s many islands. Midway through your journey, you will disembark for an invigorating nature walk. This rare and intimate opportunity allows you to explore the delta on foot, offering a different perspective on its fascinating flora and fauna. Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, Mokoro safaris are guided by experts who are highly familiar with the Delta’s water and wildlife movements. Routes are meticulously planned to avoid danger zones where hippos and crocodiles reside, in order to minimize close encounters. Safety protocols and a full briefing are provided before each trip, ensuring a peaceful experience.

Bring only the essentials: neutral-colored clothing (to avoid alarming the wildlife), a wide-brimmed hat and high-SPF sunscreen for vital sun protection, and a light scarf or buff to guard against wind or sun. Essential gear includes binoculars and a camera (ideally secured in a waterproof casing). Finally, ensure you wear slip-proof rubber-soled shoes or sandals to allow for easy, silent movement around the mokoro and camps.

For travellers from many nationalities (classified as Category B), visas can be conveniently purchased upon arrival at the port of entry, such as the airport or border crossing, though cash in USD is required for payment. Single or double-entry options are available depending on your itinerary.

Certain travellers visiting both Zimbabwe and Zambia qualify for the KAZA Uni-Visa (currently US$50 and available to citizens of over 65 countries), which is highly recommended as it grants access to both nations for up to 30 days with multiple entries, and even permits day trips to Botswana (but not overnight stays);

In contrast, some nationalities (Category C) are required to apply for an eVisa or process their visa through an embassy in advance.
