Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival & The Chobe Riverine Ballet
Upon your arrival at Kasane International Airport, you will be met by our professional representative for a seamless transfer to the refined Tlou Safari Lodge. Strategically positioned at the confluence of four nations, this lodge provides a sophisticated gateway to the Chobe ecosystem. As the afternoon heat softens, we board a custom safari boat for a Sunset Boat Cruise on the Chobe River. This is a premier aquatic safari; moving silently by water allows for unparalleled proximity to massive pods of hippos and the iconic Nile crocodiles basking on the banks. The highlight of the evening is witnessing the elephant commute, as breeding herds congregate at the water’s edge to drink and socialise against the backdrop of a bruised-purple African sky.
Meals: Dinner
Day 2 - Into the Wild: The Chobe Bivouac
Following a hearty breakfast, we transition from the lodge to the rugged heart of Chobe National Park to begin your immersive camping experience. This is where the true adventure commences; we head deep into the park to establish our base. In the afternoon, we embark on a game drive through the alluvial floodplains. This fertile corridor is an absolute hotspot for biodiversity; your guide will interpret the intricate social structures of the massive buffalo herds and the predatory movements of the resident lion prides. As the sun dips below the horizon, we head to our private mobile camp for a fire-lit dinner, falling asleep to the unscripted nocturnal symphony of the bush.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3 - Chobe Unfiltered: A Full-Day Wildlife Narrative
Today is an intensive, full-day exploration of the Chobe riverfront and its hinterlands. Because we are already camping within the park, we have the advantage of being first on the scene. We scour the riverine forests for the elusive leopard and monitor the open plains for the rare Puku antelope, which is found nowhere else in Botswana. Your guide will provide a technical masterclass in tracking, interpreting the overnight secrets written in the Kalahari sands. We enjoy a secluded bush lunch in the shade of ancient leadwood trees, allowing for uninterrupted observation of the wildlife moving toward the river, before continuing our search for the park’s diverse inhabitants until dusk.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4 - The Transit to Savuti: The Land of the Marsh Lions
We strike camp early and begin the rugged journey south toward the legendary Savuti region of Chobe. This area is world-renowned for its unique geology and its super-predators. The landscape shifts dramatically from the riverfront to the prehistoric, sand-choked plains and rocky outcrops (kopjies). After arriving and setting up our camp, we head out for a late afternoon game drive. Savuti is famous for its massive elephant bulls and its competitive lion prides that have historically learned to hunt them. We explore the Savuti Channel and the marshlands, arriving at camp just as the first stars appear for a traditional dinner over the coals.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5 - The Savuti Enigma: A Full-Day Predator Patrol
Today is a deep-entry into the Savuti enigma. We spend the entire day navigating the various waterholes and the Gubatsa Hills, which provide rare elevation in this flat landscape. This is prime territory for spotting the African wild dog and the cheetah, both of whom utilise the open plains for
their high-speed hunts. Your guide will interpret the ancient San rock paintings found on the hills, bridging the gap between Botswana’s natural history and its human heritage. We spend the day monitoring the leopard-favoured granite kopjies and the open marsh, witnessing the raw, unscripted drama of life and death that defines this iconic corner of the wild.Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6 - The Moremi Transition: Entering the Delta’s Edge
We bid farewell to the arid beauty of Savuti and head south-west toward the Moremi Game Reserve. This journey is a masterclass in ecological transition as the mopane woodlands begin to meet the emerald floodplains of the Okavango Delta. Upon arrival, we embark on a late afternoon game drive through this UNESCO World Heritage site. Moremi is widely considered the most beautiful sanctuary in Africa, where permanent water meets dry land. We track the movement of the Big Five across the floodplains before heading to our mobile camp for a well-earned dinner and relaxation under a canopy of ancient trees.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 7 - Moremi Revealed: The Pinnacle of Biodiversity
Today is dedicated to an intensive, full-day immersion into the Moremi ecosystem. This area boasts a staggering density of wildlife; we navigate the intricate network of island systems and lily-covered lagoons. Your guide will focus on the high-stakes tracking of apex predators, while also highlighting the unique aquatic specialists like the Red Lechwe. We enjoy a bush lunch overlooking a hippo-filled lagoon, providing a front-row seat to the social interactions of the Delta’s residents. This is a day for the patient observer, capturing high-definition memories of one of the planet’s last truly pristine wilderness areas.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 8 - The Liquid Labyrinth: Mokoro & Island Bivouac
The perspective shifts from the terrestrial to the aquatic as we transfer to the heart of the Okavango Delta. Upon reaching the poling station, you board a Mokoro (traditional dugout canoe). Propelled silently by a professional community poler, you glide through crystal-clear channels lined with papyrus. This silent mode of transport allows for incredible proximity to the Delta’s micro-fauna. We disembark on a remote island for a guided bush walk, where your guide will interpret the small five and the medicinal properties of the flora. We establish our island camp for a night of primitive immersion, surrounded entirely by the shimmering veins of the Delta.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 9 - The Delta Rhythm & The Transfer to Maun
Our final morning in the deep delta is spent in the mokoro, capturing the dawn chorus of the vibrant birdlife as the mist rises from the water. We navigate the quieter backwaters in search of the rare Pel’s Fishing Owl or a family of otters before poling to a main island for our return transfer. From the
water’s edge, we journey toward the safari capital of Maun, checking into the historic Island Safari Lodge. Set within a 300-acre private reserve on the banks of the Thamalakane River, the lodge’s lush gardens and cooling pool provide a welcome sanctuary to reflect on your ten-day wilderness
transversal.Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 10: Final Departure from the Frontier
After a final breakfast overlooking the river, soak in the peace of the riverine forest one last time. Our representative will provide a comfortable transfer to Maun International Airport (MUB) in good time for your onward flight. You depart with the dust of Savuti on your boots and a soul stirred by
the rhythmic lap of water against a mokoro, a truly comprehensive passage through the very best of the Southern African wild.Meals: Breakfast
