    Your authentic cultural journey begins with a convenient pickup from your hotel or lodge. We’ll start with a scenic drive through the heart of Chinotimba, Victoria Falls’ largest and oldest township, offering a genuine and vibrant glimpse into the rhythm of local urban life. From there, our path takes us off the beaten track, as the urban landscape gives way to the serene rural countryside. The drive itself is part of the experience, as we travel approximately 15 kilometers from town along a mix of paved and dirt roads to the peaceful Monde Village. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed into the community for an eye-opening and deeply interactive tour. This is a rare and intimate opportunity to meet the local inhabitants, who are eager to share their way of life. Through genuine conversation and introductions, you’ll gain invaluable insight into their rich culture, long-standing customs, and fascinating history. This visit is essentially a journey back in time, providing a tangible look into the daily life of the Zimbabwean people. You’ll be guided through a traditional homestead, where you’ll see firsthand the intricate setup of their homes, the animals they keep for sustenance, and the traditional equipment and utensils they use. You’ll also learn about the kind of food they eat and how their living spaces are arranged, offering a holistic understanding of their world. For a truly hands-on experience, you may even have the chance to participate in daily activities such as preparing food or helping with other chores, making your visit deeply personal and memorable. The tour lasts approximately two hours, including travel time, but the memories and insights you gain will last a lifetime.

The most famous and highly recommended cultural experience is The Boma – Dinner & Drum Show, located in the Zimbabwe. This immersive cultural evening features a four-course African buffet that includes game meats, sadza, and vegetarian options. Entertainment includes performances by traditional dancers, an interactive drumming lesson for all guests, and the opportunity to try a Mopane Worm to earn a “bravery certificate.”
For other authentic local options, visitors can look for eateries such as Dusty Road Township Experience, which offers a homely meal cooked on an open fire in the local Chinotimba township, or Zulu Bristo.

Zimbabwean cuisine is hearty, centered on a staple cornmeal porridge, but also features unique regional delicacies:

  • Sadza: The national staple, a thick cooked porridge made from maize meal. It is traditionally eaten with the right hand and rolled into a ball to scoop up relishes.
  • Nyama: Meat relish, often including beef, chicken, or goat, cooked in a stew with tomatoes and onions. Game meat (such as kudu or impala) is also widely available.
  • Muriwo Unedovi: Leafy green vegetables (like collard greens or pumpkin leaves) cooked with peanut butter, which gives them a rich, savory, and unique flavor.
  • Zambezi Bream (or Tilapia): Freshly caught river fish, usually grilled or fried.
