Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival & The Geological Thunder of the Zambezi
Victoria Falls Airport to Dzimbahwe Guest Lodge
Your expedition commences with a seamless transfer from Victoria Falls International Airport to the tranquil Dzimbahwe Guest Lodge. Strategically located away from the central tourist hub, this lodge provides a serene, residential atmosphere that allows you to acclimatise to the tropical rhythms of the region.Guided Tour of the Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)
Almost immediately, you are immersed in the raw power of Mosi-oa-Tunya. This is not merely a walk; it is an expert-led interpretation of a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will navigate the 1.7km rainforest corridor, sustained entirely by the Falls' perpetual spray. Your guide will explain the
intricate retreat of the cataracts over 150 million years, leading you to the Devil’s Cataract, the Main Falls, and the sheer 108-metre drop of the Rainbow Falls. Stand where the Zambezi’s basalt foundations meet the thundering force of the river, feeling the visceral vibrations of the earth’s greatest curtain of water.Day 2 - Chobe Immersion & Wilderness Camping
We cross the border into Botswana, arriving at the jetty for morning teas and coffees as the mist rises off the Chobe River. Your morning boat safari is a masterclass in riverine ecology; move silently past massive pods of hippos and witness the world-famous swimming elephants crossing to Sedudu Island. After a premier buffet lunch, the perspective shifts to a custom 4×4 for a game drive along the Chobe riverfront. This area boasts one of the highest concentrations of predators in Southern Africa; track prides of lions and the elusive leopard through the teak forests and floodplains. As the day-trippers depart, you stay behind for an authentic overnight camping experience. Dine by the fire and fall asleep to the unfiltered sounds of the African night the distant whoop of a hyena or the deep, resonant rumble of an elephant moving through the brush nearby.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3 - The Transit of Giants & The Kalahari Basin
Transfer from Chobe National Park to Elephant Sands (via Kasane)
Emerging from your wilderness camp after an early breakfast, we transit through the frontier town of Kasane before heading south into the ancient Kalahari basin. This route traces the migratory paths that have been used by megafauna for millennia. Upon arrival at Elephant Sands, a private 16,000-hectare conservancy, you face a choice of high-impact wildlife encounters. Opt for an afternoon game drive to track desert-adapted species like the honey badger or the rare brown hyena.
Alternatively, find a front-row seat at the lodge’s world-renowned waterhole restaurant. Here, there are no fences; you sit mere metres away from wild elephant bulls as they emerge from the dust to drink. Observing their complex social hierarchies and hearing the stomach rumbles of these Kalahari giants at such close range is a profound, humbling experience that few other lodges on the continent can provide.Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day 4 - Desert Rhythms & The Salt Crust Sentinels
Optional Activities and Transfer to Gweta for The Ntwetwe Pan Meerkat Encounter
Start your morning with an intimate connection to the Kalahari. An optional bush walk with a professional tracker reveals the small five and the medicinal secrets of the flora, while a horseback safari allows you to glide silently among zebras and giraffes, who view you as a fellow herbivore rather than a threat. We transfer to Gweta, the Place of the Bullfrogs, before venturing onto the surreal, shimmering expanse of the Ntwetwe Pan. This prehistoric lakebed is part of the Great Makgadikgadi. The highlight is an encounter with a resident colony of habituated meerkats. These Sentinels of the Desert are wild but have lost their fear of humans; watch as they use your shoulder as a sentry post to scan the horizon for martial eagles. Witnessing their intricate social bonding and frantic foraging against the infinite, white horizon of the pans is a whimsical yet deeply moving wildlife highlight.Meals: Breakfast
Day 5 - Migration to the Delta Gateway
Gweta to Island Safari Lodge (Maun)
We journey further west towards Maun, the bustling safari capital of Botswana. You will witness the landscape transform from the scorched-earth beauty of the salt pans to the lush, greener fringes of the Okavango system. Your base is the historic Island Safari Lodge, set within a private riverine reserve on the banks of the Thamalakane River. After the arid heat of the salt pans, the shade of ancient leadwood and rain trees provides a welcome sanctuary. Spend your afternoon on the deck, observing the vibrant birdlife from the Malachite Kingfisher to the African Fish Eagle as you prepare for your deep-entry into the world’s largest inland delta tomorrow.Meals: Breakfast
Day 6 - Full-Day Mokoro & Island Exploration
Today, from a 0800am transfer you will head to enter the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will board a Mokoro (traditional dugout canoe), propelled by a professional community poler who has navigated these channels since childhood. Gliding silently through crystal-clear waters and
blooming lilies, you are part of the ecosystem, moving at the pace of nature. This silent approach allows for incredible proximity to the Painted Reed Frog and the shy, swamp-dwelling Sitatunga antelope. The day includes a guided bush walk on a remote delta island. On foot, the African wilderness takes on a new dimension; track zebras and wildebeests while your guide interprets the
subtle signs of the Delta's inhabitants. Enjoy a picnic lunch under a canopy of water berries before your afternoon return through the shimmering papyrus channels. Upon getting on land you will then be transferred back to the lodge for your final evening.Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 7 - The Final Farewell
Transfer from Island Safari Lodge to Maun Airport
After a final breakfast overlooking the Thamalakane, take a moment to absorb the peace of the riverine forest. Your representative will provide a comfortable transfer to Maun International Airport (MUB) in good time for your onward flight. You depart with a soul stirred by the diverse wonders of
the KAZA region from the volcanic thunders of Victoria Falls to the white silence of the salt pans and the emerald veins of the Okavango. You leave not just as a visitor, but as a witness to the ancient, enduring rhythms of the Southern African wild.Meals: Breakfast
