Within minutes of takeoff, you’ll witness the delta’s magical beauty from above. The dense bushland gives way to stunning floodplains, crisscrossed with waterways and animal trails. Look for grazing lechwe, herds of buffalo resting on isolated palm islands, and elephants wandering in search of food. You’ll also fly over woodlands and grasslands, spotting giraffe, impala, wildebeest, and predators. After breakfast, you will be picked up for your mokoro day trip. A short drive will take you to a poling station where you’ll meet your experienced local guide. Your journey begins as your guide expertly poles a traditional dugout canoe through the Okavango Delta’s tranquil waterways. This unique, silent mode of transport allows for an intimate wildlife viewing experience. You’ll glide past reeds, observing a diverse range of animals, including hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species, as they go about their day. Midway through the trip, you’ll disembark for a guided bush walk to look for wildlife on land. A delicious picnic lunch will be served before you continue your exploration of the delta by mokoro. Day 3 - Moremi Game Reserve
Full day game drive
Prepare for a quintessential Botswana safari as you embark on a full-day drive to Moremi Game Reserve. The journey begins with an early morning pickup after breakfast or with your packed breakfast, as we travel approximately 80km northeast of Maun. The real adventure starts 50km in, when we cross the buffalo fence and enter the heart of the reserve. Moremi’s landscapes are a breathtaking tapestry of habitats, from dry grasslands to vibrant floodplains. This dramatic contrast, fueled by the seasonal Okavango floodwaters, supports one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. As we traverse the reserve, you’ll have the chance to see massive herds of impala, buffalo, wildebeest, elephants, and zebras roaming the open plains. At midday, we will stop for a delicious picnic lunch in the bush. Afterward, we’ll continue exploring the wetlands, where you’ll look for red lechwe, hippos, and crocodiles. This abundance of game attracts powerful predators, so keep your eyes peeled for lion, cheetah, and wild dogs. With a professional guide at the helm, you’ll be sure to experience the very best of Moremi. We’ll conclude the day with a return to your lodge in the late afternoon, just in time for dinner.
